Khedira: "Now is our chance to get going"

First Team 29.08.2019, 12:21
After the 1-1 draw against 1. FC Union Berlin in the first home game of the season, FC Augsburg are now preparing to travel to Bremen on Sunday, 1st September at 15:30 CEST. Rani Khedira is hoping to take three points from the northerners and bring them back to Augsburg. “We would’ve liked to have kept all three points here on Saturday and we know that it hasn’t been the best start,” Rani Khedira admits. “But now is our chance to get going. We want to prove that we deserve to be a part of the Bundesliga.” Preparation for matchday 3 is helped by the fact that their game is on Sunday. “We need to take full advantage of the extra training session to get ready for Bremen”, said Khedira. Felix Uduokhai’s arrival on Wednesday made him Augsburg’s 12th new signing of the season and Khedira says he has already made a good impression in training. “Now everyone is here, we are a well-balanced group. Discipline plays a big role here and now everyone knows where they stand. You can see that in training: everyone is showing desire, sharpness and concentration.” These are the elements that Augsburg need to reproduce on Sunday.

Next away game in Bremen.

Although Bremen are missing some of their regular first-teamers, Khedira does not believe that this reduces the overall quality of their squad. “Bremen are under pressure after losing their first two games, which is something we can use to our advantage. We just need to attack our opponents’ weak spots. Most importantly, we need to play our own game well. So we need to defend well, transition well and attack well. If we do that, I believe that we can take something from Bremen.”
