Training camp: Departure from sunny Spain

FC Augsburg’s winter training camp in Spain has drawn to a close. On Saturday, the FCA squad left Alicante to fly back to Augsburg after nine days on the Spanish coast. After two friendlies of 60 minutes against Royal Antwerp on Friday afternoon, FC Augsburg trained for one last time in Alicante on Saturday before preparing to fly back to Germany. FCA coach Manuel Baum allowed his players to have a lie in this morning following yesterday’s friendly. Nearly all of the squad featured, including a special outfield appearance for FCA goalkeeper Fabian Giefer in the closing stages of the match. Breakfast was at 11:00 CET while the final training session of the camp started at 12:00 CET. 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim will prepare for the second half of the season this week after Augsburg leave. Heidenheim arrived on Thursday while FCA leave this evening. From sunny Spain to snowy Augsburg After lunch, the FCA players packed their bags and checked out of their rooms. After a final photo outside of the hotel, FCA began their journey to the airport in Alicante. The squad fly back from sunny Spain to snowy Bavaria this evening before returning to Augsburg tonight. “We benefited from optimal conditions, superb training facilities and a great hotel with great food,” reflected coach Manuel Baum on the intensive week of training. “This week, we will begin our preparations for our first match of the Rückrunde against Fortuna Düsseldorf.” FCA host Fortuna in their first Bundesliga match of 2019 on Saturday, 19th January (15:30 CET). The final week of preparations for this match begins on Tuesday.
