Club 04.06.2019, 16:32
Former FC Augsburg left winger Tobias Werner has returned to the club. The 33 year-old officially retired earlier this year but will return to the Fuggerstädter on 1st July to complete a trainee programme and work in an administrative capacity. “It is incredible that I'm returning to work for the club closest to my heart. I'm thrilled FC Augsburg have given me the chance to take up this role. Exciting times lie ahead and I'm looking forward to the challenge,” said Tobias Werner. “I will receive an interesting insight into the organisational, media and/or the marketing sections of the club as well as fan support and the academy.” “Tobias Werner fully identified with the visions of FC Augsburg as a club during his time here as a player. He was a professional footballer who was able to think outside the box,” said FC Augsburg club director Michael Stroll. “We’re delighted that Tobi will return to FCA to work for us off the pitch. We are convinced he will fit into our team perfectly well as he is eager to learn and is open to new ideas.” Between 2008 and 2016, Tobias Werner made 208 appearances for FC Augsburg, scoring 38 goals and providing 39 assists during his time in the Fuggerstadt. The left winger joined Augsburg from FC Carl Zeiss Jena and settled in the city very quickly. Werner’s family also chose to stay in Augsburg after the winger left the Fuggerstädter to join VfB Stuttgart and 1. FC Nürnberg respectively.
